All Zimbabwe embassies now process biometric e-passport applications. Standard processing remains at 6-8 weeks. Emergency 7-day processing is available at select locations. See below for full details.
The Government of Zimbabwe has announced improvements to the e-passport processing system, aiming to reduce standard processing times. The centralised production facility in Harare has increased capacity, which should help reduce backlogs that have affected applications from embassies abroad.

Embassy fees for 2026 have been confirmed. Standard passport fees remain at $120 for adults and $80 for children under 16. Fast-track processing is $250 (adults) and emergency 7-day processing is $318 (adults). No changes to visa fees. See our complete fee schedule for all services.
All three Zimbabwe offices in South Africa (Pretoria Embassy, Johannesburg Consulate, Cape Town Consulate) have resumed normal operations after the December/January holiday period. Consular hours are Monday-Friday, 09:00-12:30 for applications.

The Zimbabwe Embassy in London operated on a reduced schedule during the holiday period. Normal operations resumed on 6 January 2026. Applications submitted in late December may experience processing delays of 1-2 additional weeks.

Zimbabwe completed the rollout of e-passport processing equipment to all embassies and consulates worldwide. All offices now capture biometric data for the new electronic passport. The old non-electronic passport can no longer be issued. Citizens with valid old-style passports can continue to use them until expiry.

The KAZA UniVisa (joint Zimbabwe-Zambia visa) continues to be available for approximately 40 nationalities at $50. It remains the best option for tourists visiting Victoria Falls who want to explore both the Zimbabwe and Zambia sides. Available at Harare Airport, Victoria Falls Airport, and the land border.

The Zimbabwe government announced ongoing development of digital consular services, including potential online appointment booking and application status tracking. While no launch date has been confirmed, the move towards digital services is expected to improve the passport application experience for citizens abroad.

Due to high application volumes, standard passport processing times at the Johannesburg Consulate extended to 8-10 weeks during the mid-year period. Applicants were advised to apply well in advance of travel dates. The Pretoria Embassy and Cape Town Consulate maintained standard 6-8 week processing.
