November 2025 — e-Passport Rollout to All Embassies
Zimbabwe completed the rollout of e-passport processing equipment to all embassies and consulates worldwide. All offices now capture biometric data for the new electronic passport. The old non-electronic passport can no longer be issued. Citizens with valid old-style passports can continue to use them until expiry.

October 2025 — KAZA UniVisa Updates
The KAZA UniVisa (joint Zimbabwe-Zambia visa) continues to be available for approximately 40 nationalities at $50. It remains the best option for tourists visiting Victoria Falls who want to explore both the Zimbabwe and Zambia sides. Available at Harare Airport, Victoria Falls Airport, and the land border.

September 2025 — Digital Services Development
The Zimbabwe government announced ongoing development of digital consular services, including potential online appointment booking and application status tracking. While no launch date has been confirmed, the move towards digital services is expected to improve the passport application experience for citizens abroad.

August 2025 — Processing Time Advisory
Due to high application volumes, standard passport processing times at the Johannesburg Consulate extended to 8-10 weeks during the mid-year period. Applicants were advised to apply well in advance of travel dates. The Pretoria Embassy and Cape Town Consulate maintained standard 6-8 week processing.
