Birth Registration for Children Born Abroad

Important Deadline

Births must be registered within 12 months of the child's birth to avoid penalties and complications.

Required Documents

  • Foreign birth certificate (original and certified copy)
  • Both parents' passports (originals and copies)
  • Both parents' birth certificates
  • Parents' marriage certificate (if applicable)
  • Completed birth registration form
  • Child's passport-sized photos (2)
  • Proof of parents' residence abroad

Registration Process

  1. Contact the nearest Zimbabwe embassy to schedule an appointment
  2. Complete the birth registration form
  3. Gather all required documents
  4. Attend appointment with both parents (if possible)
  5. Pay the registration fee
  6. Receive certificate of registration
