Latest Update — March 2026

Zimbabwe passport fees remain unchanged for 2026. All embassies worldwide now process biometric e-passport applications. The government continues to invest in reducing processing times. See below for all updates.

March 2026 Updates

20 March 2026 — Processing Time Improvements Reported

Multiple embassies have reported improvements in passport processing times following the Harare production facility capacity upgrades announced in February. Standard processing from South Africa offices is now consistently within the 6-8 week window. The London embassy has also seen improvements, with most applications processed within 8 weeks.

15 March 2026 — eVisa System Enhancements

The Zimbabwe eVisa portal (evisa.gov.zw) has been updated with improved processing speeds. Category B nationals can now receive eVisa approval within 2-3 business days in most cases, down from the previous 5-day average. The system now supports additional payment methods including international debit cards.

5 March 2026 — Johannesburg Consulate Appointment System

The Zimbabwe Consulate in Johannesburg has introduced a more structured appointment booking system to manage the high volume of applications. Applicants are now strongly encouraged to book appointments by phone (+27 11 616 5534) or email before visiting. Walk-in applications may face longer waiting times or be turned away during peak periods.

1 March 2026 — 2026 Fee Schedule Reconfirmed

Zimbabwe embassy fees for 2026 remain unchanged from the February announcement. Standard passport (all ages): $150 (Source: SI 2024-001). No separate child rate. Fast-track: $250. Emergency 7-day: $250. No fee increases are expected during Q1-Q2 2026. All fees are payable in USD or local currency equivalent at embassies abroad.

February 2026 Updates

15 February 2026 — e-Passport Processing Improvements

The Government of Zimbabwe has announced improvements to the e-passport processing system, aiming to reduce standard processing times. The centralised production facility in Harare has increased capacity, which should help reduce backlogs that have affected applications from embassies abroad.

1 February 2026 — 2026 Fee Schedule Confirmed

Embassy fees for 2026 have been confirmed. Standard passport fees remain at $150 for adults and $150 for all applicants (no separate child rate). Fast-track processing is $250 (adults) and emergency 7-day processing is $250 (adults). No changes to visa fees. See our complete fee schedule for all services.

January 2026 Updates

20 January 2026 — South Africa Offices Resume Normal Operations

All three Zimbabwe offices in South Africa (Pretoria Embassy, Johannesburg Consulate, Cape Town Consulate) have resumed normal operations after the December/January holiday period. Consular hours are Monday-Friday, 09:00-12:30 for applications.

10 January 2026 — UK Embassy Holiday Schedule

The Zimbabwe Embassy in London operated on a reduced schedule during the holiday period. Normal operations resumed on 6 January 2026. Applications submitted in late December may experience processing delays of 1-2 additional weeks.

Late 2025 Updates

November 2026 — e-Passport Rollout to All Embassies

Zimbabwe completed the rollout of e-passport processing equipment to all embassies and consulates worldwide. All offices now capture biometric data for the new electronic passport. The old non-electronic passport can no longer be issued. Citizens with valid old-style passports can continue to use them until expiry.

October 2026 — KAZA UniVisa Updates

The KAZA UniVisa (joint Zimbabwe-Zambia visa) continues to be available for approximately 40 nationalities at $50. It remains the best option for tourists visiting Victoria Falls who want to explore both the Zimbabwe and Zambia sides. Available at Harare Airport, Victoria Falls Airport, and the land border.

September 2026 — Digital Services Development

The Zimbabwe government announced ongoing development of digital consular services, including potential online appointment booking and application status tracking. While no launch date has been confirmed, the move towards digital services is expected to improve the passport application experience for citizens abroad.

August 2026 — Processing Time Advisory

Due to high application volumes, standard passport processing times at the Johannesburg Consulate extended to 8-10 weeks during the mid-year period. Applicants were advised to apply well in advance of travel dates. The Pretoria Embassy and Cape Town Consulate maintained standard 6-8 week processing.
